FDA Approves CBD Syrup Epidiolex – What Does it Mean for the Industry?
The U.S. took another step closer to federal legalization as the FDA approved a marijuana-infused, anti-seizure medication on Monday, June 25th.
The medication, Epidiolex, is made by extracting CBD (Cannabidiol) from the cannabis plant, then infusing the purified medicine into a strawberry syrup. The cannabis-based medication is used to treat two rare forms of epilepsy that cause seizures. Since only CBD is extracted from the plant, the syrup is designed to keep the “high” out of the medicine, allowing younger patients to benefit.
What does this mean for investors, company owners, and entrepreneurs seeking to step into the industry?
It means expansion!
The FDA backing of CBD oil as a valid, government-approved medication says that, yet again, the cannabis industry is being recognized for the benefits of their products on a massive scale. More testing is being done on real people, with real issues, and these issues are being minimized and/or solved by medicinal marijuana products.
Even the staunchest opponents of cannabis are beginning to open their eyes and acknowledge the benefits that come from the plant.
Cannabis helps real people with medical issues that, until now, were only controllable with traditional medicines that came with side effects that go on for paragraphs at a time.
The approval of Epidiolex brings us one step closer to federal legalization and widespread acceptance of cannabis as a valid medicine and industry. Cannabis isn’t just for the “stoners” but has tremendous potential as a natural medicine.
The world is changing, and people are starting to see what growers have known for years. It’s a huge deal that the FDA is starting to acknowledge the potential behind cannabis. Expansion is coming. Are you ready?
